A web developer intern who left a company she co-founded in order to join an established startup, and who is now in Silicon Valley, told News24 that she is planning to “start from scratch” to build a “real company”.

She said that, while she’s not going to be a part of any large companies, she hopes to create a company with the skills she has.
Katy is currently a web development intern at the Startup Gurus program.
Her goal is to find a company in the Bay Area that needs a developer as “team members”, she said.
“I’m really excited to get started on my own and create a real company that will really grow and benefit everyone.”

It’s important to me to create things that help people,” she said, adding that she hopes that the company will help her with the “learning curve” and to give her a “sense of purpose”.
Katy graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the University of Southern California in 2015.
She has also earned a Masters in Industrial Design from the College of Design in Los Angeles.
She currently works as a web designer for a marketing and PR company in California.
