The University of Perth has awarded an online degree in web development to a web developer.
The university said the developer, who is based in the Perth suburb of Wodonga, had completed a “proficiency and professionalism certificate” on its website.
“The web developer certificate will enable a person to enter the software development world and help them to develop and maintain their business, including software development and software testing,” the university said in a statement.
The course involves three-quarters of a day of training.
Web developer degree, which will cost $25,000, is available to those with at least 20 years of experience in web-based technology.
Students can choose from four online courses, three in a virtual environment, or two online and one virtual.
They must also pass a test and complete the required online training course.
The Web developer certificate also has an online option for those who do not have the time or interest to complete the traditional course.
The course starts from June 12 and is available for those with an online education provider.
“Students who have completed the Web developer Certificate course will be able to begin their career in the software industry,” the college said.
“For many, this is a first step into a career in software development.”
